Microprojects at GlobalGiving
GlobalGiving has just launched a new, exciting program called “Microprojects”.
A Microproject is a clearly defined project, with a funding goal dedicated to accomplish this one task. The Micoproject is part of the larger project we have with GlobalGiving, but gives us the flexibility to dedicate funds to a specific goal. Just check them out as we post them and you will see how they work:
Microproject: Secondary School
Two students from Fiadanana successfully
passed the CEPE exam
in August and are eligible to attend secondary school. (See Project reports
CEPE.) It will cost a dollar a day per the second student to cover school
fees, accommodation, food, and school supplies to attend secondary school
away from home for a school year.
The only secondary school is over 2 hours walk from their village in Bevato
the district seat, so children are unable to attend.
Send a student to secondary school for a $1 a day
Second student to secondary school for a $1 a day
Micorproject: Successful Reforestation
Zahana will award a total of 4 prizes for the most trees planted that took root and grew well in the first year of our reforestation project launched in 2011. In each of the two villages, one woman and one man will be chosen.
Currently only the schools have solar cookers. Awarding a solar cooker to each winner makes it something special that can be used with pride. Successful tree planters will be able to save firewood on sunny days, further reinforcing the environmental success of their reforestation efforts in a tangible way.
